Bill Checking Service

Our standard bill checking service costs £35.00 plus VAT per utility per site per year and consists of the following:

Bills are sent to Budget Control by the supplier and are checked and then sent on to our customer with a comment that they have been checked and are okay to pay, or that they have been checked and found to contain error/s and what action we at Budget Control have taken to rectify the error/s. Checking involves the following:

  1. Bill Checking file created in our computerized filing cabinet for images of bills and running totals on an excel spreadsheet.
  2. New bill is compared to previous bill in the bill checking folder, readings are checked to ensure they follow-on and prices are checked to ensure they are correct and multi rate registers and negative co-efficient meters are checked to ensure registers are being charged correctly.
  3. New annual budget is produced upon contract expiry and receipt of first bill showing new contracted prices.
  4. Unusual consumption patterns are investigated by comparing to previous bills.
  5. All termination procedures handled by Budget Control on our clients behalf.

In addition disputes are handled by Budget Control and payment plans/budget plans are checked and organized by Budget Control.

The enhanced bill checking service includes the above but for our group client's, multi-site budgets are provided upon request (to tie in with year-ends). As this additional Budget is extra to our normal work a fee of £10.00 plus VAT is chargeable per utility per site. The additional budget will include adjustments based on contracts that expire part way through the budgetary year based on the clients perception of the marketplace and as such involve more work, hence the additional fee. The Enhanced bill checking service also entitles our clients to have our complete files sent to them for their own records.
